A meander through Balloch Country Park and the Boturich Estate

Using a mixture of paths, tracks and minor roads.  Explore new ways through Balloch Country Park and the Boturich Estate.  On a fine day we’ll have some good views of Loch Lomond.

Terrain: The paths go through parkland and woodland.

Distance: 12 km, duration: 3˝ hrs,  total ascent 150 m to max. ht. 150m.

Start point: Jenners, Lomond Shores.

Cardross Circular

A circular walk round Cardross from Ardmore encompassing Drumhead and Kilmahew retuning along the shore. Suitable for active children.    

Terrain: Some minor roads paths and shoreline which is rough in places.

Distance approx. 10 km, max; duration 4 hrs. total ascent 70 m to max. ht. 70m.

Start point: Ardmore Point.

Scurr na h’Eanchainne (Peak of the Brains) (photo)

Crossing Loch Linnhe by the Corran Ferry, walking on A861 to Cille Mhaodan.  Climb ridge by burn then steeply to summit with short scramble.  Descent by fence back to A861 and back to ferry.

Terrain: Road, trackless grassland, short rocky scramble & hillside. Boots should be put on before boarding the ferry.

Distance: 12 km, duration 6 hrs, total ascent 750m  to max. ht. 730m.

Start point: Corran Ferry Car park (on A82, approx 4 miles north of Ballachulish bridge. Pedestrians cross free.)

It is emphasised that ‘A’ grade walks are strenuous and should only be attempted by those with high standards of fitness and stamina and who are also properly equipped and clothed for the conditions.

Leaders will quite properly turn away those who do not meet these standards as they could create difficulties or danger for other members of the group

Beinn A’ Chroin (Hill of danger)  possibly returning over An Caisteal (photo)

A steep sided mountain with craggy slopes and a craggy summit.  A muddy start from the A82 layby (180m) under the railway following River Falloch on a good track to 300m for 2km then 2km of rough track up Coire Earb to 470m; leads to open hillside to Stob Glas Bheag at 501m, then to Beinn a’ Chroin top (942m).  Possible return via An Caisteal, Twistin Hill and Sron Gharbh.

Terrain: Some track, mostly mountain with some paths (entailing minor scrambling).

Distance: 13˝ km, duration 6˝ – 7 hrs, total ascent 797 m (892 if via An Caisteal) to max ht. 995 m.

Start point: Layby on A82 just south of Crianlarich.

Glen Artney, Gleann a’Chroin around Meall Odhar and Gleann an Dubh Choirein

A “lollipop” walk in the Perthshire Hills where, with luck, you may view deer and even wild goats.  Ben Vorlich and Stuc a’Chroin are nearby, surrounded by many other mountains. 

 WILL BE TAKEN SLOWLY.

Terrain: Start/finish on good estate tracks over moorland with central portions over tracks across mountainside and along riverside track.  Will be wet and there are burns to cross

Distance: 19  km, duration 5˝ hrs, total ascent 600m to max. 600m.

Start point: Glen Artney church car park which is  7˝ km after taking a turn West off B827 some 3˝ km south of Crombie.
