Glen Lochay

Glen Lochay is a short but beautiful glen, the centre of the old hunting forest of Mamlorn.  It is the start of the climb to five Munros – NOT being undertaken today!  An easy walk on tracks all the way, with splendid views in good weather.

Terrain: Riverside and hillside but on tracks all the way – generally following contours.  Some burns to cross, but most are bridged.

Distance: 12 km, duration 4 - 4˝ hrs, total ascent 230m to max 400m.

Start point: Kenknock, 10km along and at end of minor road, turning west off A827, 1km north of Killin.

OS Map 51 / Explorer 378, grid ref: NN 466365.

It is emphasised that ‘A’ grade walks are strenuous and should only be attempted by those with high standards of fitness and stamina and who are also properly equipped and clothed for the conditions.

Leaders will quite properly turn away those who do not meet these standards as they could create difficulties or danger for other members of the group
