Mullach Coire a'Chuir ( Maybe` Top of the corrie on the rounded hill`!)

A walk over open trackless ground with some steep ascents. Extensive views from tops if clear!

Terrain: Grassland, some boggy. Quite steeply undulating .

Distance: 9½ km, duration 6 hrs, total ascent 900m to max. ht 658m.

Start point: Corrow Farm on Carrick Castle road about 1½km beyond Lochgoilhead. Parking on roadside fairly limited.

Inverarnan to Smugglers' Cave

From Benglas farm South on West Highland Way via Doune Bothy to a bay below the Smugglers' cave. (Climb to cave optional) Good views of Loch Lomond. Return same way.

Terrain: Walkers tracks on West Highland Way.

Distance: 13 km, duration 5 hrs, total ascent 300m to max. ht. 100 m.

Start point: Drovers Inn A82 Inverarnan.

Strathyre Forest Circular

A woodland walk through Strathyre forest and Coille MacCaskill's Grove taking in both sides of the River Balvag around Strathyre .

Terrain: Forest tracks and a section of national cycle track. Steep sections in places.

Distance: 9 km, duration 3½ hrs, total ascent 385m to max ht. 370m.

Start point: Car park off A84 in Strathyre.

It is emphasised that ‘A’ grade walks are strenuous and should only be attempted by those with high standards of fitness and stamina and who are also properly equipped and clothed for the conditions.

Leaders will quite properly turn away those who do not meet these standards as they could create difficulties or danger for other members of the group.

Ben Vorlich by Loch Lomond ( Hill of the Bay)

This Munro is the northernmost of the Arrochar Alps, situated on the west shore of Loch Lomond, north of Loch Sloy. Through pasture followed by a steady climb up through woods and steep hill-side to a grassy ridge. The ridge is then followed south to summit via a number of false summits. Return by the same path.

Terrain: Pasture, woodland, open hillside with no tracks.

Distance: 13 km, duration 6 hrs, total ascent 1020m to max ht. 943m.

Start point: Lay-by just south of Ardlui Hotel or car park opposite Ardlui Hotel.

Dumgoyne

The most prominent volcanic plug of the Strathblane fells . We commence at the Glengoyne Distillery and head for Dumgoyne with a steep climb up the path to the summit from where there are panoramic views. Steep descent to the start point.

Terrain: Steep paths throughout.

Distance: 6 km, duration 3½ hrs, total ascent 500m to max ht. 470m.

Start point: Glengoyne Distillery on the A81.

Meall Mor nan Eag

Slow pace walk up steep path past waterfall on to wettish moorland.

Terrain: Wettish moorland.

Distance: 6 km, duration 5 hrs, total ascent 480 m to max. ht. 624 m.
