Coilessan Car Park to Corran Lochan

From car park to Corran Lochan, with option to climb Clach Bheinn from lochan.

Terrain: Forestry tracks. Open rocky hillside for Clach Bheinn.

Distance: 16/17 km, duration 4½/6 hrs , total ascent 250/430m to max. ht. 260/467 m.

Start point: Coilessan Events car park.

Loch Turret Reservoir and Choinneachain Hill

A circular walk over Choinneachain Hill above the Loch Turret Reservoir with extensive views over Perthshire and Ben Chonzie. We return alongside but above the reservoir.

Terrain: Well defined tracks throughout.

Distance: 17 km, duration 6½ hrs, total ascent 700m to max ht. 780m.

Start point: Loch Turret Reservoir dam car park. Follow A85 out of Comrie and turn north along minor road. Pass the Glen Turret Distillery and park 3½ miles further on at the waterworks adjacent to the dam.

Clachan of Campsie Circular via Lennox Forest

Starting on the Thomas Muir Heritage Trail, the walk enters the grounds of Schoenstatt and continues to the Strathkelvin Railway Path. On leaving this path there is a gradual climb on road to Lennox Forest where a track is followed to Lennox Castle. The Strathkelvin Railway Path and the Thomas Muir Heritage Trail are rejoined to return to the car park.

Terrain: Tarmac and tracks with a bit of mud.

Distance: 11 km, duration 4 hrs, total ascent 140m to max ht. 210m.

Start point: Clachan of Campsie car park.

It is emphasised that ‘A’ grade walks are strenuous and should only be attempted by those with high standards of fitness and stamina and who are also properly equipped and clothed for the conditions.

Leaders will quite properly turn away those who do not meet these standards as they could create difficulties or danger for other members of the group.

Beinn Tulaichean

From Inverlochlarig car park follow track West through farm and strike directly up the South East ridge and crest to the summit. Descend in a South-South East direction to regain the outward track about 1km further along.

Terrain: Good track at low level but ascent is over rough grassy slopes and largely trackless.

Distance: 9 km, duration 6 hrs, total ascent 815m to max ht. 946m.

Start point: Car park at Inverlochlarig.

Alloa Tower, ClackmannanTower and Gartmorn Dam Circuit

After passing Alloa Tower, follow track across the Forth wetlands to Clackmannan Tower on King’s Seat Hill. Then to Clackmannan Tolbooth, the Mannan Stone and along Clackmannan village main street. Follow paths to Gartmorn Dam Nature Reserve and return along Brothie Burn path.

Terrain: Mostly country paths, rough and muddy in a few places. 1km through urban area at the end to return to the cars.

Distance: 15 km, duration 5½ hrs, total ascent 200m to max. ht. 70m.

Start point: Car Park at the end of Earn Court off Devon Road, immediately east of Alloa Tower.

Gryfe Reservoir and Corlick Hill

Gently rising slope to start with. Short 10 minute hill climb with easy walk around reservoir.

Terrain: Tarmac road, 2km at the start, then forestry road, tracks and short grassy hillside path.

Distance: 9 km, duration 4 hrs, total ascent 105m to max ht. 305m.

Start point: Car park at cattle grid between Loch Thom and Gryfe Reservoir.
