Glen Luss from Loch Lomond

We’ll go through lovely, tranquil Glen Luss, from the Luss Car Park as far as the disused farm house at Gleann na Caorainn and return the same way.  The walk starts on a quiet metalled road which goes fairly steadily up to a height of about 200 meters.  After about 4 km, the road gives way to paths and rough tracks which undulate through the glen. The paths will likely be wet.

Terrain: Metalled road, faint path (likely to be wet) farm track.

Distance: 16 km,  duration 4½ hrs. total ascent 200 m to max. ht. 200m.

Start point: Luss Car Park. Car parking payment required.

Campsie Glen and Cort-ma-Law

A walk of contrasts with a lush glen, high moorland, deciduous woodland and a disused railway track.  Commencing at Clachan of Campsie  we climb to the Crow Road car park and cross the road to climb further following the ridge eastwards before turning NE to reach Cort-ma Law.  Thereafter we return in a southerly direction to descend the hills in the Knockybuckle area and pass through meadows and farmland until reaching Milton of Campsie.  Finally we turn west along the dismantled railtrack to return to the start point.

Terrain: Paths (of sorts) all the way but can be wet and muddy on the ridge to Cort-ma Law.  The final 4 ½ km is along the disused railtrack which passes behind and to the west of Lennoxtown (where there is a great deal of building taking place !)

Distance: 14 km, duration 5 - 5½ hrs, total ascent 550 m  to max ht. 531 m.

Start point: Clachan of Campsie.
