Bridge of Orchy to Crianlarich

We’ll follow the West Highland Way southwards through glens and woods and along riverbanks.  There are tracks and paths all the way with some short metalled sections.

Terrain: The path undulates, particularly nearer Crianlarich where the dips and rises are greater.

Distance: 19 km, duration 5˝ hrs, total ascent minimal to max. ht 350m.

Start point: Car park adjacent to Bridge of Orchy Hotel.

This is a linear walk utilising mini bus transport. Booking a seat is essential to ensure you are not disappointed.

Stuc Odhar - (Dun coloured peak)

Climb up above Loch Venacher in Woodland Trust land using some new paths and open hillside, returning by Glen Finglas reservoir.

Terrain: Waymarked track and open hillside.   

Distance: 11 km, duration 4˝ hrs, total ascent 650 m to max. ht. 626 m.

Start point: New Glen Finglas car park on left of A821 0.6 miles east of Brig O’ Turk post office sign.

Crianlarich to Inverarnan (on the West Highland Way)

Continuing last weekend’s route down the West Highland Way which will be further explored next weekend. We will follow the Way southward from Crianlarich which is the approx. half-way point of the West Highland Way. 

Terrain:

Distance: 10˝ km, duration 4 hrs, total ascent 150 m to max. ht. 250 m.

Start point: Initially we will gather in the car park of the Drovers Inn at Inverarnan where some cars will be utilised for the journey to Crianlarich.  On completion of the walk those not driving back for cars can wait in the Inn.

Balmaha to Rowardennan (along West Highland Way)

Good track on undulating terrain.

Terrain: Path through open woodlands with fine views of Loch Lomond.

Distance: 13km, duration 4˝ hrs, total ascent minimal to max. ht. 90m.

Start point: Balmaha main car park.

It is emphasised that ‘A’ grade walks are strenuous and should only be attempted by those with high standards of fitness and stamina and who are also properly equipped and clothed for the conditions.

Leaders will quite properly turn away those who do not meet these standards as they could create difficulties or danger for other members of the group

Following good paths to the main peak area: then stony often steep, mountainous paths with easy scramble.

Terrain: Wild mountainside and reasonable paths.

Distance: 9˝ km, duration hrs, total ascent 941m to max ht. 881m.

Start point: Succoth car park. (expect Pay & Display)
