Eastern Campsie Fells

Starting in Clachan of Campsie, climb up Campsie glen to Crow road which is followed uphill for 1.7km. The track, which is quite boggy in places but gives great views to the north, then leads up Lecket hill and across to Cort-ma-Law. The return track gives fine views over the Campsie / Lennoxtown valley with glimpses of Tinto hill in the distance.

Terrain: Initially and finally a good path, 1.7km of quiet road. The remainder are hill paths, quite wet in places.

Distance: 11 km, duration 4½ - 5 hrs, total ascent 500m to max. ht 547m.

Start point: Clachan of Campsie, 1hr drive from Helensburgh. Toilet (20p) in village cafe.

Fiarach

Circular walk from Dalrigh car park up gleann Auchreoch to about 400m high on good track for 5km. Ascend Creagan Soilleir (646m). Return over high moor via Fiarach (652m) and past lochans.

Terrain: Good track prior to Creagan Soilleir, then grassy moor for half of the route.   

Distance: 10½ km, duration 5½ hrs, total ascent 520 m to max. ht. 652 m.

Start point: Dalrigh car park on A82.

Ardgoil Spine

From Lochgoilhead climb path towards Cnoc Coinnich. Pass below it and continue south via Ben Reithe to the Saddle. Descend to path and then forest road back to start. . 

Terrain: Good path becoming steep and muddy. Open moorland with some steep descents. Good path then forest road.

Distance: 16 km, duration 7 hrs, total ascent 775 m to max. ht. 653 m.

Start point: Lochgoilhead car park. Ample parking. Travel time 50 mins.

Bowling to Westerton on Canal Tow Path

Terrain: Flat gravel path.

Distance: 12km, duration 3½ hrs, total ascent minimal.

Start point: Bowling Station. 9:55am train from Helensburgh. Change at Dalreoch to train from Balloch.

Brig O'Turk and the Trossachs Viewpoint

Mainly tracks (may be boggy in places) and some forestry roads.

Terrain: Plantation forest and clearings.

Distance: 8 km, duration 3 hrs, total ascent 281m to max ht. 241m.

Start point: Car park near bridge at Brig O'Turk
