Squirrel Survey

We are happy to support a  late member of our Group  to assist with publicity for a project he was involved with.  In a voluntary capacity he was the recorder for the Perth & Kinross Red Squirrel Group. They contribute to the Scottish Squirrel Survey, which is urgently seeking up-to-date information on the distribution of red and grey squirrels in the Highlands, to help with assessing the parapox risk to the native red squirrel population.

Records are particularly few and far between for areas away from main roads, so it would be a great help if Ramblers members and friends could let us know where they see squirrels. The sightings don't have to be in Perth & Kinross - information can be fed to recorders for other areas. All information is useful, so the Kinross Red Squirrel Group will be happy to receive records from people's gardens as well as conifer woods in remote glens!

Start Point of Walks

If you plan to go to the start point of a walk instead of Helensburgh Pier you must notify the leader. There are occasions when a walk is changed and unless the leader knows of your plans you could have a long wait ………….

If, having decided to go to the start point, you change your mind, again please let the leader know.
